An unforgetable Barcelona experience for the successful candidates of Safe Social Media
The two winners of the first prize (one of them from Spain and the other from Italy) have had the opportunity to spend some days in Barcelona, enjoying a tour of the city, various cultural visits, and a meeting in which they exchanged their experiences regarding the project.
The winner's schools which attended the meeting were: 22 students from IS Leonardo Da Vinci di Borgomanero (Novara) – Italy, 12 teens from Colegio La Devesa, Carlet (Valencia) – Spain. They were accompanied by their teachers. The meeting was held at Stucom College, Barcelona. Some students from Stucom also attended the meeting.
The teens from Novara and Valencia were lodged at the same hotel in order to facilitate the exchange of the Safe Social Media experience and the responsible use of social media.
After welcoming all the participants, Gonzalo Santamaria (CECE) gave an introductory speech in the draft of Safe Social Media. Afterwards, Mercedes Rogla from Euralva (European Alliance of Listeners' and Viewers' Associations), stressed the importance of an education project for children to use critical and conscious media.
Among the main goals of the meeting were the debate and dialogue on the experience of Safe Social Media project by the participants. The attendants were invited to reflect on the first results from the first analysis of the questionnaires released during the meeting and to express their opinions on the usage of the media and their digital lifestyles. The debate was moderated by Reynaldo Rivera (InterMedia). The comparison among different digital lifestyles and data provided were interesting and full of content related to: respect, rights, leadership, violence, values, parents, friendship, etc. Definitely, it was a beautiful and useful experience for all the participants. The meeting ended with the awarding of the winning class and the delivery of certificates by Francesca Ranni (davide.it), Manuel Villalobos (InterMedia) and Mercedes Rogla.
